Fun Facts About Rebecca

Hometown:
East Moline, IL.  Also home of John Deere Tractors and Whitey’s Ice Cream, the best in the Midwest!
Education:
DePaul University, Chicago - Bachelor of Arts in Art & Design, Summa cum Laude
What got me interested in photography?
Candids!  Freezing a fleeting moment in time and then seeing the reactions when people look back at that moment they often missed or already forgotten.  There is one particular image of 3 ring bearers that I captured during my first wedding as they giggled their way down the aisle that really got me hooked.
Favorite sports team:
For better or worse, the Chicago Cubs
Movies I could recite from start to finish:
Princess Bride, A League of Their Own, White Christmas
What that might say about me:
Princess Bride – I’m a hopeless romantic with a ridiculous funny side.
A League of Their Own – I always wanted to be Dottie Henson, the best catcher behind the plate, during my good ol’ softball days.  I’ll also work hard and fight for what I want to do and believe in, just like her kid sister, Kit.  And even though I’ll go on some adventures, at heart I’ll always be a Midwestern country girl.
White Christmas – Bing Crosby.  Need I say more?  My personal favorite Christmas movie and a testament to the importance of family tradition.  It’s not Christmas time until it’s been watched (usually more than once).
Stamps in my current passport:
El Salvador, England, Scotland (x2), France (x3), Belgium, Italy (x2)
Fun fact:
I lived in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England for one year working here: www.kidskabin.org.uk
Favorite U.S. cities:
Chicago, New Orleans
One word to live by:
Amate, which means “love in action” in Latin.
My other passions:
Social justice, music, any kind of art that gets your hands dirty (mostly oil painting and a little bit of pottery and wood sculpture)
HATE ketchup.  With a passion.  You can ask my friends about their unique ways of tormenting me for this fact.
I can:
ride a horse, play oboe and English horn, laugh at myself
I wish I could:
drive a standard transmission, play guitar, speak fluent French
